I wrote this in Beijing this morning, but wasn't able to post until we arrived in Nanjing. :) It's 3:30 in the morning here, but I was up, so here goes. We've had a great time while here in Beijing. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. The breakfast buffet was like nothing I've ever had before; fantastic! Now, you can't drink the water without boiling it in the provided kettle. We went first thing down to the local grocery store and bought up some bottled water along with some Coke Zero and Vanilla Coke! We had a great time on our tour yesterday. The driver even took us by the Olympic Complex; it was too hazy for pictures, sorry! Our guide here in Beijing has been fabulous. Her chosen American name is Veronica (sorry but I can't spell or pronounce her Chinese name). She is a native of the city. The tour was exhausting, however, and when we arrived back at the hotel no one was up for going anywhere for food. No problem, Kevin and I just went down the street to the local McDonald's and brought food back to the room. Thank goodness they had a picture menu! The locals are all very friendly. Hayden even got a little taste of fame yesterday when some Chinese who were touring asked for a picture with him! Well, we're off very early for Nanjing, so I'm going to get everything packed up!
